BARCELONA, Aug 24 (SW) - Lilian Thuram has revealed he is pleased with
the quality of his new teammates in Spain and does not regret leaving
Juventus.
Thuram is eager to start the Spanish season and is extremely happy with
his move to the current European Champions. The French international
and Gianluca Zambrotta moved to Barcelona after Juventus were relegated
to Serie B.
“I was surprised by the high quality of the team and I trust I can
still learn a lot. I enjoy the fact that training sessions all take
place in a very relaxed atmosphere, ” said the 34 year old.
He added, “Lionel Messi is an extraordinary player, also considering he
is only 19. I admit I didn’t know him before arriving here, but I am
sure he will do very well.
“Barca is a great club and I am glad I have been given another
opportunity to achieve some important results, even if I am already 34.”
The defender has also announced he will continue his international
career with France and will be available for the Euro 2008 qualifiers.
