Ronaldinho in action for Brazil at 2006 World Cup (Action Images)

MONACO, Aug 24 (SW) – It was announced by UEFA on Thursday that the Barcelona and Brazilian super star Ronaldinho had picked up yet another award. This time he was named as top European footballer of the year.

The governing body of UEFA decided this award plus the following: Carlos Puyol (Barcelona) – Best defender; Deco (Barcelona) – Best midfielder; Samuel Eto’o (Barcelona) – Best forward.

The only award not to have gone to the Spanish club was that of goalkeeper. This went to Jens Lehmann, the German and Arsenal keeper.
