VALENCIA, Aug 17 (SW) - After much speculation Francesco Tavano has completed his move away from Empoli and joined Valencia.
The striker scored 19 goals in Serie A last season and had been linked
with a move to the Premiership after his agent had previously stated,
"of course Francesco would love to play in The Premiership, It is a
dream for most players and he would certainly like the chance."
Although no financial details have yet to be released for the transfer
it is believed Valencia’s director of sport Amedeo Carboni personally
monitored the deal and the Spanish club paid a fee of around 10 million
Euros for the 27 year old.
Empoli had a chance to play in the UEFA cup this season due to the
deductions suffered by other clubs after the Italian match fixing
trial, however the club did not apply for a licence from UEFA in time.
