LONDON, Aug 16 (SW) – Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes has hinted that a move to Real Madrid is getting closer.
“My dream of wearing the Madrid shirt is growing ever nearer. It is
hard to stay calm at a time like this,” revealed the player.
“Madrid's offer cannot be turned down, for me it is a dream that I have
to realise, and now all that is left is for the offer also to be good
for Arsenal.
“The coach knows that I have had problems in adapting to the lifestyle
in England. If agreement isn't reached, it will be bad for Arsenal and
for me.”
Arsene Wenger’s decision not to play the Spaniard in last week’s
Champions League qualifier against Dinamo Zagreb sparked rumours that a
move was likely to take place.
New Real manager Fabio Capello had said that a move would only take
place if the 22-year-old was eligible for Champions League action, and
Reyes’ absence from the tie in Croatia has ensured he remains eligible
for the competition should he switch clubs.
Despite Reyes’ claims, Wenger is insisting publicly that the player will not be leaving north London.
